Right now, if you buy a fashion magazine, there is a 99 % chance that the picture of the model on the cover has been modified with Photoshop to look “perfect”.

I had no idea until some years ago that fashion magazines used to have illustrations as covers. Vogue started using  photographs in some issues in stead of illustrations in the 1940’s, but until the 50’s it was a common practice to still use illustrations.

Several artist created covers for Vogue through the years, even Salvador Dalí made a few.
